Join My Street Team
You might wonder what a street team is and why you would want to join one. A street team is a group of fans who come together to support a specific person or group such as an author or band.
Street teams are loved by independent authors, in particular, because most of us do not have a big publisher’s marketing and PR machine behind us, nor do we generally have wide distribution in physical bookstores. Street teams help us make a bigger splash when we release books and they help create essential, ongoing buzz around our creative endeavors and events.
What’s in it for you
A big plus for street team members is being able to make a difference, potentially a huge one, in something worthwhile and uplifting. It’s also offers a way to share passion and enthusiasm (yea, endorphins!) and connect with others. Authors typically offer rewards for participation, too.
The main qualities I look for in street team members are a positive outlook, curiosity, true appreciation for my work and enthusiasm for periodically taking easy, fun actions to help spread the word.
How it works
If you join, no worries. I won’t ask for your firstborn. Instead, I’ll send you a signed paperback copy of Just In Case, a collection fo 21 bite-sized stories—just for joining. You might already have an electronic version of that book. This will give you a chance to hold the beautifully designed book in your hands.
And once you have Just In Case in hand, my first request is for you to take a selfie (or have someone take your photo) holding that book, and share the photo on your favorite social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. Be sure to tag me when you post the photo. If we’re not already connected on those platforms, you can find me on all three by looking for @lauramchh.
If you are unable to post photos on social media, please tell two friends who are unfamiliar with my work about me, and help them sign up for my newsletter. Then email their names and emails to me at [email protected], and I’ll double check to make sure the sign-ups were successful.
Next, post an honest review of Just In Case on Amazon (and other review sites, if possible).
Then, send me links to those reviews, and I’ll put you on the list for another gift: an illustrated copy of The Frog Who Wouldn’t Budge, a tale told by Aunt Truly, a wise and mysterious character in my forthcoming novel, The Kiminee Dream. The text for The Frog Who Wouldn’t Budge is ready, and the design process will begin soon. When the book is done, you’ll be one of the first to own it.
There are other things street teams can do, and I’ll switch things up here periodically, particularly before, during and after book launches. That’s all there is to it.
